3. Mount Hope is a prominent natural landmark in Bristol. Located on the eastern edge of town, this hill was once the site of a Native American settlement and the Great Sachem of the Wampanoag tribe, Metacomet, also known as King Philip's, summer residence.

4. The oldest continuously operating ferry service in the United States can be found in Bristol. The ferry has been running between Bristol and Prudence Island since 1864.

5. Bristol was once a major producer of textiles. By the 1800s, many mills had been built along the waterways of Bristol, and the town became a leading center for textile production.

6. Bristol was also home to the first rotary club outside of Chicago. The Bristol Rotary Club was founded in 1911 by Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary International. Today, there are over 35,000 Rotary clubs worldwide.

7. The Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, located in Bristol, was a leading producer of yachts and sailboats. Between 1893 and 1938, the company built some of the world's most famous racing yachts, including five America's Cup defenders.
