2. In 1896, the Maryland Manual On-Line was established as an official publication of the state government. The manual provides information on state agencies, boards, commissions, and elected officials, as well as historical documents and statistics.

3. In 1918, a deadly influenza epidemic struck the United States and Maryland was not spared. The disease spread quickly, causing schools, theaters, and other public places to close. By the end of the outbreak, more than 4,000 Marylanders had died.

4. In 1976, the Baltimore Colts football team played in their final game at Memorial Stadium. The stadium had been their home since 1953 and saw many historic moments, including two NFL championships and Super Bowl III. The team would move to Indianapolis the following year.

5. In 2017, hundreds of thousands of people participated in the Women's March on Washington, which took place in the nation's capital and was organized in response to the inauguration of President Donald Trump. Many Marylanders joined the march, which was one of the largest political protests in U.S. history.
