About
The Albertville Public Library, established in 1964, is the largest library in Marshall County, Alabama, offering a diverse collection of books, CDs, and DVDs for loan. In May 2025, the library was extensively damaged by a fire caused by a lightning strike. In response, a new library is being constructed to better serve the community. In the interim, library staff are operating from a satellite location at 301 W. Main Street, Albertville, AL 35950, which opened to the public on September 29, 2025. The satellite location's operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The library offers free membership to residents of Albertville and Marshall County (within a 20-mile radius). Non-residents may obtain a library card for a $10 annual fee. New cardholders can check out up to three items on their first visit, with books available for a two-week loan period and a possible one-time renewal. The library provides access to computers, free Wi-Fi, and printing and copying services at 25¢ per page. Additionally, the library houses the Winston Walker, Jr. Rare Books Room, featuring first editions, works by Alabama authors, Civil War books, and autographed copies. The
