1. The first recorded tornado in Missouri history occurred on April 18, 1829. It hit the town of New Madrid and caused significant damage to buildings and homes.

5. On April 18, 1923, the first indoor baseball game was played in St. Louis at the Municipal Auditorium. The game was played between the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Browns and ended in a 3-3 tie. Indoor baseball never became a popular sport, but this game remains an interesting piece of Missouri history.
