1. In 1926, the first state police radio system in the United States was inaugurated in Indiana on April 20th. This innovative system allowed state police automobiles to communicate with headquarters and other cars on the road, improving response times and effectiveness.

2. On April 20, 1862, the Battle of West Point took place during the Civil War. This skirmish, fought along the Tallahatchie River in Mississippi as part of General Ulysses S. Grant's campaign to capture Vicksburg, saw a Union victory that helped open up the Mississippi River to Union forces.

3. The Indiana War Memorial Museum in Indianapolis opened its doors to the public on April 20, 1965. The museum contains exhibits on Indiana's military history from the Revolutionary War to the present day, including a collection of military vehicles and weapons.

5. The National Football League (NFL) held its first draft on April 20, 1936, with Indiana University's Jay Berwanger being selected as the first-ever draft pick. Berwanger never played in the NFL and instead went on to become a successful business executive.
