1. In 1637, English settlers and supporters of the Pequot War attacked the Pequot tribe's largest village, killing over 500 men, women, and children in what is known as the Mystic massacre.
2. In 1781, the British raid on Danbury occurred on April 25th during the American Revolution. British troops burned nearly all of the town's supply warehouses, including homes and businesses.
3. In 1898, the city of New Haven officially purchased the grounds and buildings of Yale University, solidifying the school's affiliation with the city.
4. In 1913, the Connecticut State Capitol building was completed after over 10 years of construction.
5. In 1959, Hartford's Travelers Tower, then the tallest building in New England, caught fire on April 25th. The fire destroyed the building's observation deck, but the tower itself sustained minimal damage.
