3. In 1954, the first broadcast of "The Adventures of Superman" radio show took place in Miami, Florida. The show aired for six seasons and remains a popular classic today.

4. In 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear disaster occurred in Ukraine. Despite being thousands of miles away, the radiation from the accident was detected in Florida just a few days later.

5. In 2018, students participated in the National School Walkout in Parkland, Florida, to protest gun violence in the wake of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 people dead. The walkout was part of a nationwide movement for gun control reform.
