2. In 1923, legendary football coach Woody Hayes was born in Clifton, Ohio. Hayes went on to coach at Ohio State University from 1951 to 1978 and won three national championships. He is regarded as one of the greatest football coaches in college football history.
3. The Ohio State Reformatory, a former prison in Mansfield, Ohio, opened on April 4, 1896. The prison operated for over 94 years before closing in 1990. It has since been turned into a museum and popular filming location, including for the movie "The Shawshank Redemption."
4. On April 4, 1968, civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee. King had several connections to Ohio, including attending seminary school in Springfield and delivering his famous "I Have a Dream" speech at a rally in Cleveland in 1963.
