5. On August 24, 1962, a group of 17 people, including the wife and children of a rogue CIA agent, were killed in a plane crash on Mount Charleston in Nevada. The agent, named Bill Whalen, and his son were the only survivors. The group had been flying from Oregon to California when the small plane crashed in bad weather.
