1. In 1920, the first radio station in the state of Arizona, KDKB, began broadcasting. The station played a variety of music, including rock, jazz, blues, and folk.

2. On August 30, 1954, the first session of the Arizona State Legislature was held in the state's new capitol building in Phoenix. The building had been under construction for seven years and was the largest building project ever undertaken by the state.

3. In 1965, the Arizona Wildcats football team played their first game of the season against the Wyoming Cowboys. The game was played in Tucson and ended in a 13-10 victory for the home team.

4. On August 30, 1965, astronaut Frank Borman, a native of Tucson, became the first person to complete two spacewalks during the Gemini 7 space mission.

5. In 1995, the first Diamondbacks game was played at Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix. The team played against the Colorado Rockies and won 3-2 in extra innings. The game was a sellout, with over 50,000 fans in attendance.
