1. On December 10, 1864, the Sand Creek Massacre occurred in southeastern Colorado. A U.S. army regiment attacked a peaceful village of Cheyenne and Arapaho Native Americans, killing over 150 men, women, and children.

2. In 1898, the Colorado Brewing Company in Golden, Colorado, changed its name to Coors Brewing Company. The brewery, which was founded in 1873, would go on to become one of the largest beer producers in the world.

3. The Colorado State Capitol Building was completed on December 10, 1907, after four years of construction. The building features a distinctive gold dome, which was added in 1908 and is made of real gold leaf.

4. On December 10, 1937, the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre opened to the public. The natural rock formation outside of Denver has hosted countless concerts and events over the past 80+ years.

5. In 1985, United Airlines Flight 227 crashed on takeoff from Stapleton International Airport in Denver, killing 28 of the 296 passengers and crew onboard. The crash was caused by a combination of factors, including pilot error, icing on the wings, and a malfunctioning engine.
