4. On December 10, 1898, the first football game between LSU and Tulane was played in New Orleans. Tulane defeated LSU 34-0 in what would become an annual rivalry known as the Battle for the Rag.

5. The Huey P. Long Bridge, which spans the Mississippi River between Jefferson Parish and Baton Rouge, was officially opened on December 10, 1935. The bridge is named after former Louisiana Governor Huey P. Long and is the only bridge in Louisiana that crosses the Mississippi River outside of the New Orleans area.
