On this day in 1983, the Hoosier Dome (now known as the RCA Dome) opened in Indianapolis. The dome served as the home of the Indianapolis Colts until 2008.
3. John Dillinger was apprehended
Bank robber John Dillinger was apprehended in Tucson, Arizona on December 17, 1933, after a nationwide manhunt. Dillinger was eventually returned to Indiana to stand trial for the murder of a police officer.
4. Colts won AFC South Title
On December 17, 2006, the Indianapolis Colts clinched the AFC South title for the fifth consecutive year. The team eventually went on to win Super Bowl XLI.
5. Indiana Fever hired Pokey Chatman
On December 17, 2016, the Indiana Fever announced the hiring of Pokey Chatman as the team's head coach. Chatman had previously been the head coach of the Chicago Sky.
