4. On December 30, 2009, Oklahoma City native Blake Griffin made history by becoming the first player in Big 12 Conference history to record four consecutive 20-point, 15-rebound games. Griffin went on to win the John Wooden Award and was the first overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft.

5. December 30, 2015 was a historic day for Oklahoma weather. The state experienced its first-ever tornado in the month of December. The EF2 tornado touched down in the Oklahoma City metro area, causing damage to homes and businesses. Although tornadoes are common in Oklahoma, they usually occur during the spring and early summer months.
