2. The Battle of Parker's Crossroads took place on December 30, 1862, during the American Civil War. Confederate forces led by General Nathan Bedford Forrest successfully ambushed Union troops and captured hundreds of prisoners.

3. Tennessee native and country music legend June Carter Cash was born on December 30, 1929 in Maces Springs. She was known for her work as a singer-songwriter, as well as her marriage to fellow musician Johnny Cash.
