1. The First Rhode Island Regiment was formed on February 18, 1776. The regiment was comprised of African American and Native American troops, making it one of the only integrated units in the Continental Army during the American Revolution.

2. On February 18, 1930, a major blizzard struck Rhode Island, dumping over 27 inches of snow in some areas and causing widespread damage and disruption. It is considered one of the worst blizzards in the state's history.
