1. On February 20, 1920, the Arizona State Capitol building was dedicated in Phoenix. The building, which is still in use today, was designed by prominent architect James Fulton and features a distinctive copper dome.

2. In 1988, the Phoenix Suns basketball team played their first game in their new home stadium, the America West Arena. The team had previously played at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the move to the new arena was seen as a major step forward for the franchise.

3. On February 20, 1942, President Franklin Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, which authorized the forced relocation and internment of Japanese-Americans living on the West Coast. Many Japanese-Americans from Arizona were sent to internment camps during World War II.

5. On February 20, 1986, Arizona native Debi Thomas made history by becoming the first black woman to win a medal at the Winter Olympics. Thomas, a figure skater, won the bronze medal in the women's singles competition at the 1986 Winter Games in Calgary, Canada.
