1. On February 8, 1791, New Hampshire ratified the United States Constitution and became the ninth state to join the union.

2. In 1835, New Hampshire Governor Isaac Hill signed a bill that abolished capital punishment in the state, making it the first state to do so.

3. In 1905, the Dow Academy, a preparatory school for boys, was founded in Franconia, New Hampshire. It would later merge with the Franconia High School, creating the profile School District.

4. On February 8, 2008, the New Hampshire Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples could not be denied the right to marry, effectively making New Hampshire the fourth state in the United States to legalize same-sex marriage.

5. In 2013, a massive snowstorm hit New Hampshire, causing power outages and road closures across the state. The storm dumped up to 20 inches of snow in some areas and was dubbed "Nemo" by the Weather Channel.
