1. In 1868, a deadly blizzard swept through southern Minnesota causing extreme cold and burying homes and entire towns in snow.
2. On January 11, 1921, the University of Minnesota's Agriculture Building on the St. Paul campus caught fire, causing extensive damage.
3. In 1965, the Minnesota State Legislature approved the construction of the Metrodome, which would become the home of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins.
4. On January 11, 1998, the Buffalo Bills defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XXVII in one of the most lopsided Super Bowl games ever, with a final score of 37-13.
5. In 2019, Minneapolis was officially named the host city for Super Bowl LII, which would be held at U.S. Bank Stadium on February 4, 2018.
