They were created by Mexican artist Diego Rivera and remain one of his most significant works in the United States.

4. In 1998, the first snowboarder successfully completed a backflip over a moving automobile. Professional snowboarder Mike Basich accomplished this feat in downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico, in front of a large crowd of onlookers. The stunt garnered national attention and helped propel snowboarding into the mainstream.

5. In 2015, the New Mexico State Capitol building underwent significant renovations.
