4. In 1958, the Boston Celtics beat the Minneapolis Lakers 173-139 in the highest-scoring game in NBA history. The game was played at Boston Garden and featured future Hall of Famers Bill Russell and Elgin Baylor.
5. In 1943, Massachusetts native and future President John F. Kennedy was appointed as a lieutenant in the United States Navy. Kennedy would go on to earn a Purple Heart for his service in World War II.
