1. On July 15, 1782, the Battle of Eutaw Springs took place in Eutawville, South Carolina. This Revolutionary War battle was the last major engagement fought in the state and was a pivotal moment in the war's southern campaign.

2. In 1863, the Second Battle of James Island occurred on July 15. This battle was part of the Civil War and was fought near Charleston. Union forces were attempting to take control of Charleston Harbor, but were ultimately unsuccessful.

3. On July 15, 1870, Governor Robert K. Scott signed a bill establishing Clemson University. The university was originally known as the Clemson Agricultural College of South Carolina and was founded to promote agricultural education in the state.
