1. On July 19, 1848, the first women's rights convention in the United States was held in Seneca Falls, New York. The convention was organized by suffragettes Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott, and resulted in the official Declaration of Sentiments, which demanded equality with men, including the right to vote.

2. In 1952, The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) was established in New York City to oversee the city's public transportation system. The MTA is responsible for the New York City subway and buses, as well as the Metro-North and Long Island Rail Road commuter rail lines.

3. On July 19, 1961, the New York Yankees' superstar pitcher Whitey Ford set a major league record by striking out six straight batters in one inning during a game against the Chicago White Sox. Ford would go on to have a legendary career and become one of the greatest pitchers in the history of baseball.

4. In 1993, jazz legend Miles Davis died in a hospital in Santa Monica, California. Davis was born in Alton, Illinois, but spent much of his career living and performing in New York City. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century, and his influence can still be heard in jazz and other genres of music today.

5. On July 19, 2016, the New York Police Department (NYPD) announced that they would begin using drones for certain operations, such as search and rescue missions and hostage situations. The decision was controversial, with many civil liberties advocates expressing concerns about privacy and potential abuses of the technology. Nevertheless, the NYPD has continued to use drones in certain situations, and other police departments around the country have followed suit.
