1. In 1873, the infamous outlaw "Kid" Curry was born in Iowa. Curry became one of the most wanted men in the Wild West, and eventually settled in Montana where he continued his life of crime. He was eventually arrested and sent to prison in 1903.

2. On July 30, 1925, the town of Helena experienced a major earthquake. The quake had a magnitude of 6.2 and caused widespread damage throughout the city. Several buildings were destroyed and many more were damaged.
