1. In 1858, gold was discovered in Colorado in what would later become known as the Pikes Peak Gold Rush. This discovery led to a significant influx of settlers to the area and the growth of the mining industry in Colorado.

2. The first official state flag of Colorado was adopted on July 7, 1907. The flag features a red, white, and blue field with a large letter C in the center, representing both Colorado and the state's nickname, the Centennial State.

3. On July 7, 1930, the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre held its first concert. Located just outside of Denver, Red Rocks has hosted countless legendary music performances over the years, including unforgettable shows by The Beatles, U2, and Bruce Springsteen.

4. In 1976, Colorado celebrated its centennial as a state. The year-long celebration included a wide variety of events and festivities, culminating in a massive party in Denver's Civic Center Park on July 7.

5. On July 7, 1980, a major earthquake shook the small town of Lake City in western Colorado. While the quake caused significant damage to many buildings in the area, thankfully there were no fatalities or serious injuries reported.
