4. In 1930, Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly solo across the United States, landing in Oakland, California after a 2,447-mile journey from Newark, New Jersey. Earhart was born in Atchison, Kansas and grew up with a love of aviation that led to her pioneering flights and record-breaking achievements.

5. In 1963, President John F. Kennedy visited Fort Leavenworth to deliver a speech on national security and defense. The president was accompanied by Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson and members of his cabinet, and the speech highlighted the importance of a strong military and strategic planning in maintaining peace and security.
