3. The Arizona Diamondbacks played their first home game on June 12, 1998. The Diamondbacks defeated the San Francisco Giants 3-2 in front of a capacity crowd at Bank One Ballpark (now Chase Field).

4. On June 12, 1979, the deadliest crash in aviation history occurred in Arizona. American Airlines Flight 191 crashed shortly after takeoff from Chicago's O'Hare airport, killing all 271 people on board, as well as two people on the ground.
