2. In 1938, the first commercial television station outside of New York City went on the air in Cincinnati. WLW-TV is still on the air today as WCPO-TV.
3. In 1951, the Cleveland Indians became the first team in Major League Baseball history to score 14 runs in the first inning of a game. They went on to beat the St. Louis Browns 21-2.
4. In 1971, the Ohio State University Buckeyes football team introduced a new head coach, Woody Hayes. In his first game as coach, the Buckeyes beat Michigan 10-7.
5. In 2015, the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage in the landmark case Obergefell v. Hodges. The lead plaintiff in the case, Jim Obergefell, is a Cincinnati resident.
