1. In 1867, the first state capitol building in Nebraska was completed on June 27. The building was located in Lincoln and was used until 1922, when the current capitol building was completed.

3. In 1981, the Nebraska State Patrol established the first K-9 unit in the state on June 27. The unit began with six dogs and handlers and has since grown to become an important part of law enforcement in Nebraska.

4. In 1991, the Nebraska Football All-Century Team was announced on June 27. The team was made up of the best football players from the University of Nebraska over the previous 100 years.

5. In 2018, a tornado ripped through the town of Wilber on June 27, causing significant damage to homes and businesses. Fortunately, no one was injured in the storm.
