3. In 1953, Rosa Parks attended a workshop at Highlander Folk School in Tennessee, which was later used as evidence against her during her arrest for refusing to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama bus on December 1, 1955.

4. On June 30, 1965, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed the construction of the Claiborne Lock and Dam on the Alabama River. The lock and dam helped to control flooding and facilitate navigation on the river.
