3. In 1913, Earl Bakken was born in Minneapolis. Bakken went on to invent the first wearable, battery-powered heart pacemaker in 1957, and went on to found the medical technology company Medtronic, which is now headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.

4. On March 11, 1968, the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry Division launched a major operation in Vietnam to clear the area around Huế City of Viet Cong forces. The Battle of Huế lasted for over a month and was one of the largest and bloodiest engagements of the Vietnam War.

5. In 1985, the Minnesota Twins signed Hall of Fame outfielder Kirby Puckett to his first major league contract. Puckett went on to play 12 seasons for the Twins, helping lead them to two World Series championships in 1987 and 1991, before his career was cut short by glaucoma.
