2. On March 18, 1829, New Hampshire became the first state in the US to have a woman as its sole representative in Congress. Emma D. Snodgrass was appointed as a member of the House of Representatives.

3. In 1865, the 12th New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry Regiment fought in the Battle of Fort Stedman during the American Civil War. The regiment suffered heavy casualties but ultimately played a crucial role in Union forces retaking the fort from Confederate troops.

4. On March 18, 1937, the New Hampshire State House was officially dedicated. The building, which is the oldest state capitol in the country in which the legislature still meets in its original chambers, was designed by renowned architect Stuart James Park and constructed over a period of 33 years.
