3. In 1969, the Seattle Pilots played their first exhibition game against the California Angels at Sicks' Stadium. The Pilots were the first Major League Baseball team in Seattle, but only played for one season before moving to Milwaukee and becoming the Brewers.
4. In 1985, Washington State University's men's basketball team, led by head coach George Raveling, advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
5. In 2014, the Oso mudslide devastated the small community of Oso, Washington. It was caused by heavy rainfall and resulted in the deaths of 43 people. The disaster prompted improvements in land-use policies and emergency management procedures.
