2. In 1776, the former Governor of Connecticut, Jonathan Trumbull, was appointed as George Washington's military secretary during the American Revolutionary War. He served in this role until the end of the war in 1783.

3. On March 28, 1836, the charter for Wesleyan University was signed. Located in Middletown, Connecticut, Wesleyan is a private liberal arts college that has produced many prominent alumni, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of the Broadway musical Hamilton.

4. In 1868, Henry Baldwin Harrison was born in New Haven, Connecticut. Harrison went on to become a prominent businessman and philanthropist, founding the Southern New England Telephone Company and serving as president of the United Illuminating Company.

5. On March 28, 1967, a fire broke out at the Windsor Locks International Airport, killing six people and destroying several airplanes. The cause of the fire was determined to be a faulty electrical wire. This tragedy led to significant improvements in airport safety standards.
