1. On March 30, 1814, the Arkansas Territory was officially established by the United States Congress, with William Fulton serving as the territory's first governor.

2. In 1870, the Arkansas State Agricultural and Mechanical College (now known as the University of Arkansas) was established in Fayetteville. Its first classes were held on March 30, 1872.

3. On March 30, 1912, the Ozark National Forest was established by Presidential proclamation, becoming the first national forest in Arkansas.

4. In 1957, the Little Rock Nine, a group of African American students, attempted to attend Central High School in Little Rock but were met with opposition by white segregationists. On March 30 of that year, one of the students, Elizabeth Eckford, was famously turned away from the school by the Arkansas National Guard.

5. On March 30, 2004, the city of Jonesboro in northeast Arkansas was struck by an F3 tornado, resulting in two deaths and numerous injuries. The tornado also caused significant damage to homes, businesses, and the local university campus.
