1. On March 30, 1866, the Idaho Territory was created. It originally consisted of what is now Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Boise was named the territorial capital.

2. The first recorded white settler in the Boise area, Joseph K. Holman, arrived on March 30, 1863. Holman became a successful businessman and served as Boise's first mayor.

3. On March 30, 1964, the famous Good Friday earthquake occurred in Alaska. The earthquake, which had a magnitude of 9.2, was the second-largest earthquake ever recorded and caused a tsunami that reached the coast of Idaho.

4. On March 30, 1928, the town of Gooding was incorporated. Gooding is known for its outstanding dairy industry and hosts the annual Gooding Milk Producers Festival.

5. The Idaho State Capitol building was dedicated on March 30, 1920. It took nearly three years to complete construction of the neoclassical building, which features a distinctive copper dome. The Capitol was recently renovated and restored to its original glory.
