1. On March 30, 1864, Montana Territory was officially established by an act of Congress. Montana was created out of portions of Idaho Territory and Dakota Territory, and it originally encompassed the entire western half of present-day Montana, as well as parts of Idaho and Wyoming. James M. Cavanaugh was appointed as the first governor of Montana Territory.

2. March 30, 1949, was a historic day for Montana's aviation industry, as it marked the first official flight of the Montana Air National Guard. The 186th Tactical Fighter Group was initially established to provide air defense for the state's citizens, and it has since deployed to locations around the world in support of various missions.

3. On March 30, 1971, the first edition of The Montana Kaimin was published by the University of Montana's School of Journalism. The Kaimin is the university's student newspaper and has been produced continuously ever since. It has won numerous awards for its coverage of both campus and community news.

4. Montana State University's Bobcat Stadium officially opened on March 30, 1973. The stadium is home to the MSU Bobcats football team and has a seating capacity of over 17,000 fans. 5. Montana became the first state in the nation to grant women the right to vote on March 30, 1914. This was six years before the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified, which granted women across the country the right to vote. Montana's suffrage movement was led by women such as Jeannette Rankin, who later became the first woman elected to the U.S. Congress.
