1. In 1933, Colorado ratified the 21st amendment, repealing the 18th amendment and ending the prohibition of alcohol. This allowed for the legal sale and consumption of alcohol once again in the state.

2. On March 5, 1963, the Stapleton International Airport opened in Denver. It served as the primary airport for the city until it was replaced by Denver International Airport in 1995.

3. In 2003, the controversial Colorado Avalanche Information Center was established on March 5. It provides avalanche forecasts and education to backcountry skiers and snowboarders in the state.

4. On March 5, 1906, the first curling championship was held in Colorado. The Denver Curling Club was founded in 1928 and is still in operation today.

5. In 1977, Colorado became the first state to adopt the "blue spruce" as its official state tree. The blue spruce is a common tree in Colorado's forests and can grow up to 75 feet tall.
