1. In 1812, the town of Hanover was incorporated in New Hampshire. Hanover is home to Dartmouth College, one of the Ivy League schools, and has produced several notable alumni, including former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner and former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz.

2. The Mountain View House, a historic hotel in Whitefield, New Hampshire, opened its doors on May 11, 1866. The hotel was a popular destination for tourists visiting the White Mountains area, and it remained in operation until it was destroyed by fire in 1980.

3. On May 11, 1934, a multi-state manhunt for notorious criminal Clyde Barrow and his accomplice Bonnie Parker came to an end in an ambush in Bienville Parish, Louisiana. The couple, who were known as Bonnie and Clyde, had been on a crime spree across the country, and their exploits later inspired numerous films and TV shows.

4. In 1955, the New Hampshire State Police implemented a new radio system to improve communication between officers and headquarters. The new system used two-way radio technology, which allowed officers to transmit and receive messages, and it replaced the old one-way radio system that had been in use since the 1930s.

5. On May 11, 1996, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, a minor league baseball team, played their first home game at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester. The team, which is a Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, has been a popular attraction in the state and has helped to revitalize the downtown area of Manchester.
