1. On May 18, 1918, a massive wildfire known as the "Cloverly fire" broke out in eastern Wyoming. The fire burned approximately 250,000 acres and destroyed numerous homes and buildings, causing an estimated $1 million in damage.

2. The first recorded tornado outbreak in Wyoming occurred on May 18, 1966. A total of 24 tornadoes touched down across the state, causing widespread damage and killing two people.

3. On May 18, 1896, the Wyoming Stock Growers Association hired a group of gunmen to attack a group of cattle rustlers who were camped along the Powder River. The ensuing gunfight, known as the "Johnson County War," resulted in the deaths of several men and sparked a lengthy conflict between ranchers and homesteaders.

4. Wyoming became the first state in the United States to grant women the right to vote on May 18, 1869, when Governor John Campbell signed the suffrage bill into law. This landmark legislation paved the way for other states to follow suit, and eventually led to the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920.
