1. In 1701, the first General Assembly of Delaware was held in New Castle. This assembly helped establish the governance structure for the new colony.

2. In 1765, the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act, which required all legal documents and printed materials in the colonies to be produced on stamped paper that was taxed. This act was met with widespread protest, and eventually led to a boycott of British goods and the American Revolution.

3. In 1863, the Battle of Front Royal took place during the Civil War. Confederate forces attacked Union troops and forced them to retreat. This battle was part of the larger Valley Campaign, which saw Union forces attempt to control the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia.

4. In 1897, the Wilmington and Western Railroad Company was incorporated. This railroad provided transportation for passengers and goods in northern Delaware for over 70 years.

5. In 1960, the movie "The Deadly Companions" premiered in Dover. This western was directed by Sam Peckinpah and starred Maureen O'Hara and Brian Keith. It was filmed in and around the historic town of Old Tucson in Arizona.
