3. On May 23, 1934, notorious bank robber Bonnie Parker and her partner Clyde Barrow were killed in a police ambush outside Gibsland, Louisiana. The couple had ties to Kansas, as they had been arrested for a failed robbery attempt in Wellington in 1933.
