3. In 1915, a train wreck occurred in Joliet, Pennsylvania, killing 24 people and injuring over 100. The accident was caused by a mechanical failure on the train.

4. In 1947, the Philadelphia Phillies played their first night game at Shibe Park. They beat the Boston Braves 8-1 in front of a crowd of over 31,000 fans.

5. In 1979, American Airlines Flight 191 crashed near O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, killing all 271 people on board. Among the passengers were several residents of Pennsylvania. The crash remains one of the deadliest aviation accidents in U.S. history.
