2. In 1888, the Delaware State Fair opened for the first time in Harrington, Delaware. The fair is one of the oldest in the country and has become a popular annual event, featuring agricultural exhibits, carnival rides, live entertainment, and food vendors.

3. In 1957, Maj. Robert M. White set a world altitude record of 314,750 feet in an experimental aircraft called the X-15. The flight took off from Edwards Air Force Base in California but was controlled by a team of engineers at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) in Delaware.

4. In 1982, the Delaware Park Racetrack in Wilmington, Delaware, hosted the first ever Breeders' Cup, a prestigious horse racing event featuring some of the best thoroughbreds in the world. Since then, the Breeders' Cup has been held at various racing tracks across the country and has become a major fixture on the horse racing calendar.

5. In 2015, the Delaware House of Representatives passed a bill legalizing same-sex marriage in the state. Delaware was the 11th state to legalize same-sex marriage and the first state in the country to do so through legislative action rather than a court ruling. The bill was signed into law by Governor Jack Markell on May 7, 2013, and went into effect on July 1, 2013.
