1. In 1632, the Massachusetts Bay Colony granted a land patent to Reverend John White and his associates, establishing the settlement of Saco on the coast of Maine.

2. On May 30, 1903, a severe tornado struck the city of Worcester, Massachusetts, killing 94 people and causing widespread damage. The tornado remains one of the deadliest natural disasters ever to hit the state.

3. In 1927, aviator Charles Lindbergh made a stopover in Boston on his historic solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean. Lindbergh was greeted by a cheering crowd of thousands upon his arrival at Boston's Fenway Airport.

4. May 30, 1961, was the opening day of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston. The library, which is located on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Boston, houses the personal papers and memorabilia of the 35th President of the United States.

5. On May 30, 1975, the Boston Celtics defeated the Golden State Warriors to win their 12th NBA championship. The team was led by Hall of Famers Dave Cowens, John Havlicek, and Jo Jo White, and coached by Hall of Famer Tom Heinsohn.
