3. On May 5, 1926, the town of Burdette was incorporated. It is located in Mississippi County in northeast Arkansas and has a population of just over 200 people.

4. The Little Rock Nine, a group of African-American students, enrolled in Little Rock Central High School on May 5, 1958, but were prevented from entering the school by the Arkansas National Guard. It took several weeks and the intervention of President Dwight D. Eisenhower before the students were finally able to attend school.

5. On May 5, 1970, a rally was held at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville to protest the Vietnam War. The rally quickly turned violent, with police using tear gas and force to break up the crowd. Several students were injured and arrested, and the university was later criticized for its handling of the incident.
