1. On November 12, 1906, the City of Albuquerque officially adopted its city charter, creating a mayor-council form of government. This replaced the previous system of a town council and a board of aldermen.

2. On November 12, 1949, the New Mexico Lobos football team played their first game at University Stadium in Albuquerque. They defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders 34-7 in front of over 18,000 fans.

3. On November 12, 1966, the Artesia Bulldogs defeated the Hobbs Eagles 58-0 in the New Mexico Class AAAA High School Football Championship. This remains the largest margin of victory in a New Mexico state football championship game.

4. On November 12, 1988, the New Mexico State Aggies football team upset the 20th-ranked Utah Utes 52-48 in a high-scoring shootout. This victory helped the Aggies finish the season with a 7-4 record.

5. On November 12, 1996, the International Space Hall of Fame inducted six new members. Among them was retired astronaut and New Mexico native Harrison "Jack" Schmitt, who was part of the Apollo 17 mission and was the last person to set foot on the Moon.
