2. In 1982, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was dedicated in Washington D.C. The memorial was designed by Maya Lin and has become an important and emotional symbol of the sacrifices made during the Vietnam War.

3. In 2001, the FBI officially announced that it had found the anthrax-laced letters that were sent out to various media outlets and government officials, including Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle. The letters resulted in five deaths and many more illnesses.

4. In 2018, the city of Washington D.C. hosted its first ever Major League Baseball championship parade after the Washington Nationals won the World Series.

5. In 2020, the city of Washington D.C. celebrated Joe Biden's election victory as the 46th President of the United States. The city erupted in cheers and celebrations as many people gathered to rejoice and congratulate the incoming President.
