1. The Boston Tea Party
On November 13, 1773, a group of colonists in Boston boarded three ships from the British East India Company and dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor. This event came to be known as the Boston Tea Party, and it was a symbolic act of resistance against the British government’s unfair taxation policies.

2. First Thanksgiving
The first recorded Thanksgiving in Massachusetts took place on November 13, 1621. Governor William Bradford declared a day of celebration for the Pilgrims, who had successfully completed their first harvest in the New World. They invited the local Wampanoag tribe to join them, and the feast lasted for three days.

3. Harvard University Established
On November 13, 1636, the General Court of Massachusetts Bay Colony approved the establishment of Harvard College. It was the first institution of higher education in the colonies and is now the oldest university in the United States.

The first public school in America was established in Boston on November 13, 1635. The Boston Latin School was created to educate the children of the English colonists and was open to boys of all social classes. It still exists today and is one of the most prestigious public schools in the country.

5. The Great Molasses Flood
On November 13, 1919, a large storage tank filled with molasses in Boston’s North End exploded and sent a wave of molasses flooding through the streets. The flood killed 21 people and injured 150 others, and it caused extensive damage to the neighborhood. The incident became known as the Great Molasses Flood and led to stricter regulations on industrial safety.
