1. The University of Michigan was founded on November 15, 1817, in Detroit, Michigan. It started as a small school with only seven students and focused on teaching medicine.

2. On November 15, 1856, the famous abolitionist and activist Sojourner Truth gave her famous "Ain't I a Woman?" speech in Battle Creek, Michigan. The speech challenged the gender and race norms of the time and became a cornerstone of the feminist movement.

3. The Edmund Fitzgerald, a famous Great Lakes freighter, sank on November 15, 1975. The ship was caught in a severe storm on Lake Superior, which caused the ship to go down with all 29 crew members aboard. The tragedy inspired a popular ballad by Gordon Lightfoot.
